Please see below important reminders for coaches, players and parents in relation to codes of conduct at matches.
The League has noted a number of recent incidents involving player send-offs, referee abuse, and unsporting behaviour at fixtures and we have been asked to remind all coaches, players, parents and spectators of their responsibility to show respect to match officials at all times.
That means players conducting themselves in a sporting and disciplined manner, coaches setting a good example on the sideline and spectators behaving respectfully towards referees, players, and league officials.
Referees play a vital role in ensuring that fixtures are fulfilled and that games are played in a safe, fair and enjoyable environment. Without them, matches simply cannot take place. Abuse of any kind — whether from the sideline, subs bench or stands — undermines the spirit of the game and discourages referees from continuing in their essential role.
Behaving respectfully towards our coaches and volunteers is equally important and we would ask that players, parents and guardians familiarise themselves with their relevant code of conduct. See previous update HERE
We simply would not have a club without our volunteer coaches, so please let the coaches coach. We want young players to be supported and encouraged from the sideline and ask that parents do not encroach onto the playing/coaching areas or give instruction from the sideline as it just confuses the players and undermines the work that the coaches are doing.
If parents have queries on any aspect of how the team is preparing or playing, then the primary contact is with the team coaches. We ask that this is done in a respectful and civil manner (ideally before or after training) and if you are not happy with the coaches response, then the next step is to bring it to the attention of a committee member or the Child Welfare officer.
