50/50 Draw Park Fundraising

Strandhill Community Park Development Draw

Strand Celtic needs your help to continue the development of Strandhill Community Park. In order to create Sligo's first Eco Park and a new community walkway, the club are running a 50/50 draw, with half of all proceeds paid out in prize money every month.  This is your community park and we are looking for people to commit to €10 per month on an on-going basis for entry to the monthly draw.  Your help would be greatly appreciated for the price of a cup of coffee per week.  You can sign up online using this link.

How does the 50 / 50 draw work?

The 50-50 draw is simply a raffle.  The 50/50 refers to the fact that 50% of all the money raised is given out in prizes each month.  The other 50% is used to fund the park development.  Each 50-50 ticket costs 10 Euro.  Of course, the more tickets bought the bigger the cash prize at the end of the Month. For example: 100 tickets sold @ 10 Euro a ticket. This equates to 1000 Euro. Prize fund is 500 Euro in that month which is all paid out!

When and where does the draw take place?

The draw takes place on the first Thursday each month at the club committee meeting in the Community Park clubhouse at 9pm.  All paid members from the previous month will be entered in the draw.

How do we know who wins?

The Winners will be notified, and the results will be displayed in local businesses, clubhouse, club notes, website and social media each month.

Where do the funds raised go to?

Strand Celtic has invested to date over €1m to develop our Community Park in Strandhill. Our Astro facility was recently re-surfaced and the latest phase will transform our park into Sligo’s first ECO park including;

  • new waste and foul water systems
  • low energy LED lighting
  • rainwater harvesting system to feed our pitch irrigation system
  • solar power to operate all power and lighting
  • a spectator area with disability access
  • a bicycle storage area to encourage kids to reduce car usage
  • a floodlit community walkway around our pitches for people walking/jogging in the winter.
  • a mother and baby changing area for people in the playground

This is not just a football park but a facility for all the community.

The total project is in the order of €250,000. It was necessary to take out a substantial loan alongside Sports Capital Funding, Leader Funding and Sligo County Council. The 50/50 draw income will be used to fund the loan repayments.
