Last year during covid the club set up an FAI club mark committee led by david Joyce and Ryan McEnroe. Ryan and david are both involved in our senior teams and have been with the club since a young age. The objective was to achieve the FAI Club mark one award.
This was a big ask in that it requires significant effort in ensuring all the necessary procedures and policies are in place at a very high standard.
we recently received this award after Trojan work by the two lads and their sub committee. Great praise is due to Ryan and david, who worked closely with our chairman Jorge, There was a lot of detailed meticulous work required by everyone. Our coaches also had to step up to complete their safeguarding courses and other coaching courses.
our club was founded in 1972 and it is great to get this award in our anniversary season. We have graduated from browns field to our superb €1m+ facilities in strandhill.
on the pitch we have teams now for boys snd girls from U6 to senior and beyond. With increasing number of teams we have also increased our coaches.
No club is complete without it’s club colours and crest and the crest of Strand Celtic includes the famous canon symbolising the knocknarea peninsula area. the club colours of green and White hoops have been the club colours from back in the 70’s when the club was formed.
Speaking about the FAI Club Mark Award, chairman and long serving member of the club Jorgr Correia said “We are proud to have been awarded the FAI Club Mark in recognition of everyone’s commitment to running the club in line with best practices. This award reflects on everyone within strand celtic and their commitment to ensuring proper governance and standards and practices within the club. Our mission now is to build on this initial award and to develop the club further and in doing so to develop these standards further and we look forward to continuing to provide quality training, quality facilities and all we can do for our members and our community.”
Strand celtic would like to thank the FAI for their support and guidance in working towards the Club Mark award.
The FAI Club Mark is free and optional for clubs and aims to:
• Improve the management of clubs ‘off the field’
• Establish and promote best practice
• Empower and support clubs
• Recognise and reward clubs for achieving high standards
